Day 1: Shuttle to George

From Cape town ……shuttle to George, where we stay at #17 On Wellington Guest Suites (option also to fly to George from connector in JHB or CT www.17wellington.co.za)

Day 2: 15+k wilderness beach hike

A coastal beach hike between Sedgefield and Wilderness. Spectacular sea views and fossilized sand dunes make an awesome warm-up day and it is almost entirely flat. We hike past the beautiful Gericke’s Point, hopefully spotting dolphins and whales. Shuttle to Riviera Hotel in Hartenbos to meet up with bikers. www.rivierahotelhartenbos.com

Day 3: 13 km Hike Cape St Blaize Trail

Shuttle to Mossel Bay and begin this coastal hike. Below the lighthouse is a large cave where the trail starts, after which we hike through 13.5 km of scenic coastline with fascinating plant life and rock formations. The consequent variety of rock and soil types which the trail traverses is reflected in the plant cover. In spring the diversity of veld flowers here makes a colourful sight. Day 4: 16k Marloth Hike

Shuttle to Swellendam and Marloth Nature Reserve to hike the Plaat contour trail. A steepish climb then an undulating path half-way up face of Langeberg Mountains. Spectacular views of surrounding farmlands with views to the Indian Ocean. Cross small streams, a long downhill to mountainside bottom. An optional 3k section to a beautiful waterfall – can swim at the top. Shuttle 45min to Honeywood Farm in the Grootvadeersbosch Nature Reserve. www.honeywoodfarm.co.za

Day 5: 12k Silvermine hike

Shuttle to Silvermine Nature Reserve on the Cape Peninsular to hike up to Elephant’s Eye Cave with spectacular views over Cape Flats and Cape Town. A steep climb to the ‘mast’ of Constantiaberg. Downwards towards Hout Bay side of the mountain to Silvermine dam for a potential swim. Shuttle 40 min to The Quays Hotel in Simonstown to join the bikers. www.aha.co.za/quayside

Day 6: 10-15km  Table Mountain Hike

Table Mountain. Depending on the weather, options to either climb up or circle around a lower path. Shuttle to Camps Bay to meet bikers for a dramatic final photo and celebratory drinks in the shadow of the famous Twelve Apostles. Shuttle to Signal Hill Lodge Hotel, on Signal Hill. Final celebration dinner with bikers hosted by Phoenix Burns Project. www.signal-hill-lodge.co.za

Day 7:  Day in Cape Town

Morning presentation by the Phoenix Burns Project followed by a visit to either the Red Cross Children’s Hospital or the school’s prevention project. Afternoon and evening at leisure

Free day until airport transfers or stay on for the African Oil Week Conference.
